On Friday after work, Kathy and I walked to Chelsea Market to pick up some dinner to take to the Highline to eat. There are a few places to pick up "real" food, and just as many places that sell cupcakes and other baked goods in Chelsea Market. We decided on Eleni's, which was originally just a cookie place when they opened. The cupcake craze changed that. (probably smart because their cookies, although very cool, don't taste very good.)

I got this chocolate and peanut butter cupcake (second from the right). It was gooooood!! The frosting was really yummy and peanut butter-y and the cake had peanut butter cups baked right into it. Thumbs up on this cupcake.

On display at Chelsea Market was this exhibit. It was also fun to see in person.

The Office quote of the week -- 5/20

Nick the IT guy, after telling everyone that he knows what's on their computers, says to Darryl, "You're on Facebook. Why do you tell everyone you're not on Facebook? People want to be your friend, man."

What is it about Facebook, anyway?

30 Rock quote of the week -- 5/20

First of all, Juliann Moore's accent has gotten worse. She was almost Southern during the church scene.

And here are your quotes for this awesome season finale...

Carroll: "I don't know what's going on in this country. It's idiocy."
Liz Lemon: "I know! People wear flip flops to church. and the NBA tattoo situation is out of control."

And I will add to that that some people wear flip flops to church... in February. To my church, at least. I think you know how I feel about that. Okay, moving on....

Kenneth: "I'm not going to Los Angeles because everyone there smiles creepily all the time, and that's my thing. "

Jack, quoting Avery: "Flat shoes are for quitters."

Saying Yes.

Sometimes, I'm in a "Yes" period, and other times I'm in a "No" period. Right now, I'm on what I call my "super India budget," meaning that I'm eating peanut butter and jelly every day so that I can save money for my vacation to India in October. Ergo I've been in a "No" period of late. BUT I am bored of that. So last week, when my coworker invited me to go to a Josh Ritter concert, I said "YES." I only heard of this guy because my friends Kendra and Matt loaned me some CDs, but then JM released his new CD and I listened to that one instead. I usually don't go to concerts unless I can actually name a song or two, but that didn't stop me this time. And I quite enjoyed the show, even though the only song I can name from the night was a Springsteen song.

Bon Jovi at Meadowlands is next week. YES!!

Glee quote of the week -- 5/18

Although I thought this was a great episode and Neil Patrick Harris was fabulous, I was surprised that I didn't get one really good quote from him.

This one will do. As they are showing a scene from his "showchoir conversion group," one of the members said "I'm a glee club survivor. Whenever anything bad would happen, I would say, 'Let's put on a show.' Well, guess what! Putting on a show about your father's prostate cancer will actually just make him more depressed about the situation."

Best number of the week: "Dream on" I'm pretty well known for not knowing the words to songs, and this is classic. I found out this week that I was wrong about pretty much everything in this song.

The trend continues

Although I don't really get the interest in the show, I do watch The Real Housewives of New York City sometimes if there is a marathon on and I'm cleaning or sewing or doing something else that benefits from mindless television in the background. Not only do I not get why these women are on TV, I really don't get why they get book deals and music contracts. They are so unlikeable and are only getting worse, now that they have to compete with the NJ women who are way more interesting and a little less crazy, on the whole.

This season, NYC has a new "character" named Sonja, rounding out the new trend. Unfortunately, she's more annoying and her life seems more pointless than any of the other characters on the show and thus brings the name down. However, I kind of love it that there is a Sonja and a Jill on the same show.

The Office quote of the week -- 5/13

Andy: "In any cheating movie, the person getting cheated on is the hero. You're Ali Larter, I am Beyonce."
Michael: "I'm always Beyonce."

30 Rock quote of the week -- 5/13 the return of Jon Hamm, Dennis and Floyd

Tracy talking about his new part playing in the new Garfield movie.
"It's perfect. I'm playing Garfield. My whole part is being shot on green screen in three days. And they are paying me exactly 1 million teachers' salaries."

Team Braverman

Tuesdays are busy now with "LOST,"
"The Good Wife," "Glee," and now my new favorite show,
"Parenthood." It's kind of ridiculous, actually. But it's also ridiculous how much I love this show. I love the family dynamics (and the beautiful homes help, too). But I also love these actors, especially Lauren Graham and Peter Krause. Even Dax Shepard is tolerable on this show.

Here's a great quote from this week's episode. Sara (Lauren Graham) goes to a party to spy on her mom, who recently separated from her dad, and she has this conversation with a random man at the party.
"That's my mother and the guy she's talking to is her art teacher."
"Oh, they make a cute couple.
"They're not a couple. That woman is a grandmother. Look at her. Flirting. Giggling. It's like she's in the Sex and the City movie."
"I'm so looking forward to seeing that movie."
"Well so am I! I'm not dead inside, but the fact is that guy is a homewrecker."
And then, of course, random man skulks away.

Cupcakes NJ style

Yesterday I took the train out to where my sister lives, now that she's back to being a Jersey Girl (Yay!!!) The only thing on the agenda was to try their cupcake place. We got Peanut butter & chocolate, Cookies & cream, Lemon, Vanilla/Chocolate, Mocha and Vanilla/Vanilla. The cake part was okay, but the frosting was really good.

I liked the lemon the best. But that peanut butter frosting was really good, too.

And here's a shout out to my future bro-in-law, Chris!! Thanks for a fun day.

Sue Sylvester: "So you like show tunes? It doesn't mean you're gay. It just means you're awful."

Best number of the week: "Jesse's girl"

The Office quote of the week -- 5/6

Michael, talking about his girlfriend: "She won't say I love you. I said it on the second date."
Oscar: "That seems quick. Even for lesbians."

Pam to Michael: "Don't let your imagination run out of control."
Michael: "That's easy for you to say. You have a bad imagination."

I'm a fan, but....

Okay, so I've seen every episode of "Sex and the City" a million times, I sometimes quote the girls in regular conversation (e.g. "we're doing this now?"), and I saw the movie opening weekend despite the annoying bridge and tunnel audiences in my favorite theater on 34th St. I was a little annoyed by the movie because I felt that the series ended perfectly and did not think that they needed a follow up. Then what did they do but break up Carrie and Big AGAIN?? But all's well that ends well, and it was a perfect ending again.

I was really skeptical when I heard another movie was coming out. The first rumor I heard was that Big maybe cheated on Carrie and they broke up again, and I refuse to see that. Refuse. But now that the release date approaches, several versions of trailers have been on TV. First it just looked like it's more of a girls' trip, which I can be on board with. It looks like that they took my advice and have addressed Charlotte's stress at being a mom. But then I saw that they are bringing Aidan back? Come on! How desperate can you be? I may actually sit this one out.

30 Rock quote of the week -- 5/6

Liz: "You could have been an astronaut's wife?"
Liz's mom: "It wasn't that simple, Liz. I had just graduated from secretary school and I had just gotten a job at Sterling Cooper. I couldn't just pick up and move, I was already 26. An old maid."
Liz: "Different times! Octomom!"

Glee quote of the week -- 5/4

This week was a mixed bag. "Ice Ice Baby" was good, "Let's Get Physical" was great, but that "Run Joey" number? No good.

Quote.... Sue Sylvester to Molly Shannon's character: "Don't start with me, Castle. I'll kick you square in the taco."

But seriously, how hilarious were Sue & Olivia Newton-John doing "Let's Get Physical"??

The Office quote of the week -- 4/29

This was a good week for "The Office," and there were lots of hilarious things to choose from. Here are my faves from this week...

Michael: "I can't stop myself from kissing her. "
Kevin: "Now you know how I feel sitting next to those M&M's all day. "
Oscar: "Why don't you just move the M&M's? "

Dwight: "I bet you get pulled over by the cops a lot, just because of your race."
Kelly: "Well, they say it's because of texting, but... maybe you're right."

Pam: "Most printer sales are done over the phone, Ms. Boob Shirt. "

Dwight: "Just once, I'd like to be a puppet master and have nothing go wrong. Is that too much to ask? "

Speaking of puppet master...

30 Rock quote of the week -- 4/29

Liz to Jack, after Jack says that he is going to the reading of Bill Guise's will.
"Word of advice. If the will says you have to spend the night in a haunted house, you better hope that everybody else there is black guys and sluts."

The spoils of war

My friend, Heidi, is moving and called me to say that she didn't have space in her new place for her cupcake courier. I am trying to change my hoarding ways. No more do I say, "Well, I can probably use it someday," or "I can't waste it," or my family's favorite saying, "It's perfectly good." However, how can I turn this thing down? It really is perfectly good! It holds three dozen cupcakes!! And it's perfect for lugging on the subway or whatever, because it has a nice handle. Anyway, needless to say, this beauty is now mine and I'll find a place for it somewhere.
