Cupcakes -- Brooklyn Flea style

Kathy and I ventured to Brooklyn to visit the Brooklyn Flea (I guess this hipster heaven is too cool to call it what it is -- a flea market). It has been on my radar because of Kumquat Cupcakery, which I first heard about on Martha Stewart a pretty long time ago. It was on Kathy's radar because they have furniture and design flea market-y things there. So, a winner for both of us.

First of all, I didn't know these were minis. If I had known, I would not have been quite as excited to try them. Second of all, I didn't remember that the one I was supposed to try was the chocolate peanut butter, so I didn't try it (but did take a photo of the plate). Kathy did get this one, and she appeared to be pleased that not only was there peanut butter frosting, but also peanut butter filling.

The one I did get was the maple bacon, which left this little lonely cupcake in it's wake:

Maple bacon... because how could I not get a cupcake with bacon on it??

So the verdict is that they were okay. I will admit that it was a hot day and we carried them around until after we had lunch, so they were kind of melted. But still, overall, not overly impressed and not necessarily worth another try.

But I might anyway....
