Spring break, part 2

 Next stop was to Moab to visit my parents.  My first day there, a nice stranger that my mom knows took me on a hike to a new place.  when she told me she was taking me to Corona Arch, I told my parents where we were going but then I thought, "Did I make that up?  Is it really called Corona or do I just have corona on my mind because of the virus?"  But it really is called Corona Arch.

Spring break, part 1

 I'm not a student but I did take a spring break this year.  This was my first time on a plane in more than a year.  I was planning to go visit my parents in Utah for my first trip (also my last trip of 2019).  But then my friend called and said that she rented a lake house for a long weekend in Georgia, and invited me to go with them. Since Atlanta is a Delta hub, it was easy enough to just add this first leg onto the trip.  

These are some pictures of the lake at different times of the day.  The house was right on the lake and had a set of stairs down to their own personal dock.

Since it rained one full day, the only chance we had to kayak was the few morning hours on the last day before we had to check out at 11:00 am. 

One day, we rented a boat.  Milena has some friends that have a lake house and a boat, so she has had lots of experience driving a boat.  I took a turn at the steering wheel.  Behind us, you can see her kids on a tube (that yellow thing in the water).  I also took a turn on that.  I thought the water was going to be cold because I'm used to the ocean, but it wasn't bad at all.  

We have been friends for almost 40 years !

Christmas 2020

Somehow, I managed to take almost no pictures this year. This is pretty much it.    

My niece's grandpa was helping her build a rack for all her doll clothes.  She got a lot of new clothes for Christmas, made by her grandma Shauna.

Little visitor

My sister and her family moved last week, so she and my niece came and stayed with me for a few days.  She did remote school from my spare room, and had lunch from 12-1 every day, so I took her to the park during that time.  The first day, all the kids were really young and she was ready to leave after about 10 minutes.  But the second day, she made some friends.   

After school and work, Jill and I took her on a little walk down to the Little Red Lighthouse

We had a fun time and maybe we will have another slumber party soon.

 Like many people, I was very sad to hear of the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.  I had requested to take two days off to help my sister move, but when the move was delayed, I took one of those days to drive down to Washington DC to pay respects.

We stood in line for about an hour and a half, but it went by very fast.  Some people were dressed like Justice Ginsburg.

Pie Night 2020

 Covid-19 did not stop Pie Night at Dominique Ansel.  

Here are a few of the pies we had that night.  This was my favorite of the savory pies -- the potato and bacon with yummy fontina cheese
