While Kevin was here for Thanksgiving, we talked and decided that it might be fun to try to bring his kids over for Christmas. We found an amazing airfare, and he was able to make it happen. I was a little worried about where everyone would sleep, but I borrowed a couple of air mattresses, and went through all my stuff to find enough sheets, blankets, pillows and towels for everyone. I had to do a million loads of laundry, with only one working washing machine in the building and living in a fifth floor walk-up.
The view to Queens was clear but a close up pic was not. Who knows?
So, here's getting ready....
Wall to wall people... no room for me to watch the movie.
The first day, I picked them up at the airport and they were ready to explore the city. But as soon as we got on the subway, they started to feel the jet lag, and then we got to Times Sq. and they got a little overwhelmed by the crowds. We didn't stay too long...
The first full day, we got up early and went to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The kids took pictures of every scene, so I think that means they liked it.
We tried to go to the Empire State Building a couple of times, but the line was around the corner. Finally, on New Years Eve, we were in the neighborhood, so we decided to just walk by and see how the line was. Luckily, the tourists were doing something else that night, so we made it to the top. I have been several times, but I don't think I've ever been at night, and it was a really clear night. This is the view of Queens....
